Judd Allen, Ph.D.
President, Human Resources Institute
Dr. Allen is President of the Human Resources Institute, LLC, a research, publishing and consulting firm that focuses on the creation of supportive cultural environments. He earned his Ph.D. in Community Psychology from New York University and serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Health Promotion. Dr. Allen is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Wellness Institute. Dr. Allen was a Senior Research Analyst at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and served on the Vermont Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness and Sports. Dr. Allen has assisted several hundred government, business and community settings to bring about lasting and positive culture change. He has authored more than 50 books, journal articles, training manuals and software titles. His most recent books are Bringing Wellness Home, Wellness Leadership and Healthy Habits, Helpful Friends. Judd has completed more than 25 consecutive New York City Marathons, multiple Ironman distance triathlons and long distance cross-country ski races. He lives in Burlington, Vermont with his wife and seven year old daughter.
Tracy Byrne
Tracy Byrne is an obstetrician /gynecologist and a partner in private practice at Obstetrics and Gynecology of Northern Indiana. Prior to moving to Indiana, Tracy had practiced in southern New Hampshire since 1998. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed residency training at the University of Rochester. Special areas of interest include adolescent medicine, ultrasonography and wellness care. She is active in physician leadership as the vice chairman of Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Tracy also participates in medical education with both medical student and resident training and is an associate teaching professor at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Tracy and her husband, Gerard, presently live in South Bend, Indiana with their three children. She is very active away from medicine and enjoys running, biking and yoga. She has participated in several triathalons in the past and enjoys new challenges and experiences. She is an avid knitter and collects yarn on her many adventures.
Gail Johnston
Owner, Progress Health Coaching and Consulting
Gail is the owner of Progress Health Coaching and Consulting, overseeing a team of Intrinsic Coaches® who provide Health Coaching services to the employees, family members and retirees of companies, schools and government offices.
Based in Durango, CO, Progress brings a fresh perspective to the issue of achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through the use of Intrinsic Coaching®, a methodology that is replicable and reliable from coach to coach, and unleashes a developmental path that continues long after the Coaching is over.
Gail brings 30 years’ experience in health and well-being, having developed the first nationally recognized fitness guidelines for overweight men and women for the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America; operated a corporate fitness company in the San Francisco area; and served for 10 years as the vice president of SOF, a health education and marketing firm in Colorado.
Gail co-produced a variety of books, audios and videos for consumers and wrote numerous articles for such magazines as American Fitness, Fitness Now, Radiance, Diabetes Now and SHAPE. She served as a consultant on two of Richard Simmons’ Sweatin’ to the Oldies videos.
Joseph Zimmerman
Trust Administrator, Vermont School Board Insurance Trust
As Trust Administrator for the Vermont School Boards Insurance Trust since the early 1990’s, Joe has played a key role in the development and administration of VSBIT programs. Those programs include VSBIT’s Multi-Line Program, which provides member school districts with property, workers compensation and all forms of liability coverage. In addition, Joe contributed to the early development of VSBIT’s wellness program and the formation of the Vermont Education Health Initiative, of which, he is President. VEHI is jointly managed by VSBIT and the Vermont-NEA and purchases health and dental insurance for most schools in Vermont. Prior to joining VSBIT, Joe worked for New York Life Insurance Company focusing on agent compensation and benefits for almost 20 years.
